Penicuik South Church has a history dating back to the 1843 Disruption. We have been closely linked with Howgate Church for many years owing to the minister being in charge of both churches. At the present time however, we are without a minister.
Howgate Church has now closed its doors for the last time and their congregation has opted to join with that of the South Church. In fact a formal union of the two congregations is now being pursued. We have not sought permission to call for a new minister and are instead looking forward to continuing on the basis of what the Church of Scotland call a ‘guardianship’.
Despite this period of uncertainty, we gladly continue to fellowship together and worship and praise our God and Father in heaven and his only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Our Vision: To be a people in whom God is working, growing disciples and building His kingdom
Our Values: A reliance upon God and His word, an openness to the Holy Spirit and a spirit of grace and forgiveness reflecting Jesus’ love.
